How to Get Rid Of Cold Sores

Don’t let cold sores be the unwanted invaders of your face – learn how to banish them for good.

Us, humans, have many concerns regarding “body invaders.” Amongst body invaders are pimples and warts. Not only are pimples and warts hideous-looking and interfere with one’s appearance, but can also spread throughout other parts of the body. There’s another breed of body invaders which certainly makes the cut. You might’ve heard of “herpes.” Specifically, oral herpes, or the herpes simplex virus. Once a person contracts the virus, it remains dormant. The virus reveals itself in the form of blistering bubbly sores anywhere around the mouth. These are known as cold sores. Luckily, there are ways to get rid of them.
Don’t Touch!
Like pimples, the number one rule with cold sores is don’t touch them. Cold sores are highly contagious and can be given to others. They can also spread to other parts of the body, only if you touch a cold sore and touch yourself elsewhere. This includes the eyes. Touching one or both of your eyes may result in retina damage.

While proper hydration and sleep don’t sound like contributors to getting rid of cold sores, they do help. Comply with the global recommended amount of water to drink per day (8 cups) and get anywhere between 7-8 hours of sleep. Pair this method with Benedryl lip balm. This is to be performed right before bed. Take a Benedryl pill, crush it down to where it’s almost powder, and place some onto the lip balm using your index finger. Spread some of the Benedryl powder onto the lip balm and slowly and gently apply the paste onto the cold sore(s).
Lysine
Alternatively known as L-Lysine. Lysine helps produce antibodies, let alone claims to treat those with the herpes simplex virus. You can simply purchase Lysine from your local grocery store. Use the product in accordance to the directions that are printed on the label.
Try and keep calm while dealing with cold sores. Allow 1-2 weeks for them to disappear. Repeat the second method as needed. If that method fails, then take the Lysine route. Contact a doctor if cold sore(s) persist after 2 weeks is up.
