How to Get Rid Of Earwigs

Get rid of those uninvited house guests – earwigs! Here’s how.

A house, apartment, or condo may serve as a form of solitude. Once you enter your home, you feel safe, secure, and relaxed. Your mind is at ease at the present moment. Unfortunately, there are things that walk amongst us throughout our daily lives and mostly aim to ruin it. Ants, rats, and roaches are just to name some. They always manage to find a way into your home. Earwigs, especially, manage to invite themselves in. While earwigs mostly feed on plant life, they can also crave for meat. Luckily, there are various ways of getting rid of earwigs.
Shut Down Dark Motels
Earwigs prefer to inhabit dark damp places. Search around the premises of your home for piles of wood, debris, or logs. Dispose of any wood piles, debris, or logs in the process. Also, check inside any empty pots that may be laying around and remove them from the site. Fix any cracks in pathways as soon as possible if there are any.

Birds eat just about any insect that’s placed infront of them, just like how spiders eat practically any other creature in the world. You can either purchase a bird or two at a local pet store (don’t forget to buy a birdhouse or cage if necessary) or create an environment that will attract birds. You can do this by having a bird bath in your garden. You may also want to consider setting up a feeding station to further guarantee the attendance of birds.
Insecticide
If you’re going to choose this method, then do so with caution. There are insecticides available on the market today that are long-lasting with just one spray. However, it’s vital that you use this kind of product in accordance to the directions that are printed on the label. A better alternative is, perhaps, boric acid. Boric acid is also an insecticide and is considered to be safer to use in households.
Remember that earwigs prefer dark and damp places, so ensure that your house is also clutter-free in addition to the outside. Clean your house once every week or two. This includes vacuuming and wiping down windows and countertops. If you notice an opening in the screen of a window, then have it fixed as soon as possible.
