Termites eat wood, and they live in warm, moist soil near food sources such as fallen trees, woodpiles, and houses. Termites usually enter homes through gaps. Termite colonies live in underground nests connected to a network of mud tunnels through which the insects travel to look for food, which they carry back to the nest. Expect termites also in homes with little wood. For example just by having the frames made out of wood would be a good enough reason to find termites. Termites target wooden doors, window frames, cabinets, or shelves.
